 Internship Opportunities

Program Success Manager

Program Success Managers facilitate troubleshooting problems on our online system, as well as to maintain the integrity of The City Tutors' data collection. All majors and disciplines encouraged to apply. This is a fully remote, flexible position. 5-10 hours/week. No experience necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • E-mailing and texting tutors in regards to their use of the online system

  • Auditing active tutor list, connections of tutors-students, and verify collection of tutoring data

  • Informing Director of Volunteer Coordination of errors that occur within the online tutor system

  • Ensuring post-tutoring surveys are completed by students and tutors

Qualifications:

  • Currently an undergraduate or graduate student (all majors and disciplines encouraged to apply)

  • Access to a computer and reliable internet with the ability to host internet video conferences

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Strong attention to detail

  • Familiarity with video conferencing tools like Zoom, Google Meet, and Skype (preferred, but not necessary)

This is an unpaid internship, but there is opportunity for school credit if allowed by the college/university of applicant. Position offers an excellent opportunity to work on substantive projects and can result in a letter of reference.

Tutor Ambassador

Tutor Ambassadors serve as the first meeting for new volunteers, and provide prospective vo. You’ll meet with new volunteers in order to talk about our organization and our tutoring philosophy. All majors and disciplines encouraged to apply. This is a fully remote, flexible position. 5-10 hours/week. No experience necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Emailing tutors and scheduling tutor orientations

  • Facilitating all volunteers’ understanding of The City Tutor’s policies and procedures

Qualifications:

  • Currently an undergraduate or graduate student (all majors and disciplines encouraged to apply)

Data Analysts

Data Analysts will analyze, interpret, and present user and demographic data from our online portal to help inform programs and policies. This is a fully remote, flexible position. 5-10 hours/week. No professional experience necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and interpret data on an Excel/Google Sheet.

  • Create visual representations of data.

  • Create a platform on which a custom snapshot of key points within the web-application can be seen.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with SQL, knowledge of a programming language, and past work of connecting that programming language to a database.

  • Currently in graduate school or with extensive coursework or experience in Data Science, Data Analytics, or Computer Science.

Software Engineer Interns

Software Engineer interns will design, develop, and maintain our web application for tutors, tutees, mentors, mentees, and community partners. This is a fully remote, flexible position. 15-20 hours/week.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Python, Django and SQLite to design, develop, and maintain our software backend for data management.

  • Work with HTML/CSS/JavaScript to design, develop, and maintain our software frontend for user interaction.

  • Work with stakeholders to create design documents for new technical features.

  • Perform data visualization and analysis to market our organization externally, and inform business decisions.

Qualifications:

  • Currently an undergraduate or graduate student studying computer science, math, engineering, or sciences.

  • Familiarity with Python, Django, SQLite, HTML, CSS, & JavaScript.

  • Comfort working collaboratively and as part of a team, as well as independently.

  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
